Trivia
The lake and cabin where the Carltons live was also used in the horror film Devour which starred Jensen Ackles.  Of course, the city of Vancouver where "Supernatural" is filmed is very familiar to Jensen, as he also filmed the television shows "Dark Angel" and "Smallville" in Vancouver.

Jared Padalecki filmed this episode while suffering from a broken hand.

The opening scene when Sophie Carlton drowns is an homage to the film Jaws.

Dean introduces himself as "Agent Ford" and Sam as "Agent Hamill", this is a reference to Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, the stars of the original Star Wars trilogy.

Webmasters' Thoughts

Hoppy says, "Well, I have a special affection towards this episode because of Amy Acker guest starring.  I love Amy Acker and she does a great job in this episode, as does Daniel Hugh Kelly as her father.  But, what I really love the most about this episode is the insight into Dean's character and the way he deals with Lucas.  You really start to see how Mary's death affected Dean, and how dealing with such a thing can really change a person.  Jensen is particularly effective in his scenes with the young actor playing Lucas."

Jen says, "Nothing yet!"
