Ryan Rodney Reynolds (born October 23, 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia), is a Canadian actor.

His father James was a grocery wholesaler and his mother Tammy Reynolds a salesperson. He is the youngest of four brothers; two of them are currently employed as police officers.

Ryan is well known for his starring role in the movie Van Wilder by National Lampoon, though he also starred for four years in the American TV series Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place playing medical student Michael "Berg" Bergen. Ryan had a cameo in 2004's Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle playing a nurse and has appeared in The In-Laws, with Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks, and the Canadian production Foolproof (2003). In 2004, he co-starred in the action/horror film Blade: Trinity as Hannibal King. In 2005 he starred in the film Waiting... playing a waiter named Monty.

Although he has performed primarily in comedies, Reynolds played the dark character George Lutz in the horror movie remake of The Amityville Horror.

In December 2004, David Goyer (writer of the Blade trilogy and Batman Begins) announced plans to write and direct a major motion picture starring Reynolds as the Wally West version of the Flash.[citation needed]

David Goyer (Batman Begins screenwriter) has expressed interest in a Deadpool motion picture. At recent interviews, actor Ryan Reynolds has told of monthly meetings with Avi Arad over the possibility of a Deadpool or Sub-Mariner motion picture, with him as the lead role of either Wade Wilson or Namor. Due to increased fan backing of the Deadpool project, the idea is getting closer and closer to being made, with Avi Arad's son being a "hardcore Deadpool fan" helping the cause.

Since 2002, he has been romantically linked to fellow Canadian, singer Alanis Morissette, to whom he has reportedly become engaged[citation needed]. Reynolds has stated that he was attracted to Alanis's laid back attitude; an example he gave was that she did not need to take 2 hours to get ready to go grab a coffee, like other women he had dated in the past[citation needed].

Alanis's song "Everything" is purportedly about Reynolds[citation needed]. The couple live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and own a penthouse suite in Los Angeles, California, USA.

In 2006, Reynolds and Morissette reportedly split up.

On June 7, 2006, People Magazine reported that Morissette split from fianceé Ryan Reynolds, however neither party has confirmed this report, and the legitimacy of their break up is still in question.

On July 27, 2006, Morissette and Reynolds were spotted holding hands in Los Angeles, sinking rumors about their supposed break-up.

Prior to Morissette, Reynolds dated actress Kristen Johnston.

Reynolds has claimed that he is a Green Bay Packers fan.
